BEFORE YOU FILE
Is your 2-year conditional card expiring within 90 days, or already expired? Do not use Form I-90. File Form I-751 (marriage) or Form I-829 (investment) to remove the conditions instead. A conditional resident can use Form I-90 only when the card is lost, stolen, destroyed, damaged, never received, wrong because of a DHS error, or out of date after a legal name or detail change.
What Form I-90 covers
Why are you renewing or replacing your green card?
Form I-90 renews or replaces a card for any reason. These six are the most common, and we prepare all of them.
- 01
Lost, stolen, or destroyed
Your card is gone. You file Form I-90 and send a copy of the card or a photo ID.
LOST OR STOLENStart your I-90 - 02
Renew an expired or expiring card
A 10-year card does not renew itself. File once it is within 6 months of expiring. A card that has already expired can still be renewed.
EXPIRINGStart your I-90 - 03
Damaged or mutilated
The card is torn, faded, cracked, or partly destroyed. You send a copy of it or another photo ID.
DAMAGEDStart your I-90 - 04
Name or details changed
A legal name change, or a card with wrong data that DHS did not cause. You send the registered court or marriage document.
NAME CHANGEStart your I-90 - 05
Card never received
USCIS mailed it and it came back as undeliverable. If it was mailed to your address and never returned, USCIS treats it as lost.
NEVER RECEIVEDStart your I-90 - 06
Turned 14 or a DHS error
Children register and get fingerprinted within 30 days after their 14th birthday. If DHS made a mistake on your card, you file and send the wrong card back with the form.

What you get
A green card renewal package built for your reason
Your answers decide the reason on the form, the fee, the mailing address, and the document list.
The right reason on Part 2
Part 2 lists a reason for each situation, and a wrong one can get the form denied. You answer a few questions and we check the box that fits.
The right USCIS fee
The fee is $465 on paper or $415 online for most reasons. It is $0 when USCIS got your card back undeliverable, DHS made the mistake, or a child turned 14 with a card good past the 16th birthday. We work out which applies.
The right mailing address
You mail Form I-90 to a USCIS lockbox. Your filing instructions name the one for your case.
A document list for your reason
A copy of your card or photo ID, a name change document, or the original card with a DHS error, depending on why you file.

Common questions
Green card renewal questions, answered
Renewing, replacing, fees, timing, and filing.
It is the USCIS Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card. You use it to renew a green card, and to replace one that is lost, stolen, damaged, or wrong. The same form covers a name or data change and a child who turned 14.
Renew when your 10-year card has expired or expires within 6 months. A card that has already expired can still be renewed. Filing earlier than 6 months before it expires can get the application denied. A green card holder must carry a valid card at all times.
You can file Form I-90 online with a USCIS online account, and the fee is $50 lower. Immiva prepares a paper package with mailing instructions, so the paper fee applies.
Processing times for Form I-90 change often and depend on the office that handles your case. Check the current estimate before you file. USCIS processing times
The USCIS fee is $465 by mail or $415 online for most reasons. It is $0 if your card was returned to USCIS as undeliverable, if DHS made the error on your card, or if you turned 14 and your card expires after your 16th birthday.
You answer plain questions about why you need a card and about yourself. Immiva fills in the form, picks the reason on Part 2, and lists the fee, the address, and the documents you need. You review the packet before you pay, then print, sign, and mail it.
Not to renew it. A conditional resident files Form I-751 (marriage) or Form I-829 (investment) to remove the conditions and get a 10-year card. Form I-90 still replaces a conditional card that is lost, stolen, damaged, never received, wrong because of a DHS error, or out of date after a legal name change.
File Form I-90 to replace it. Send a copy of the card if you have one, or a photo ID with your name, date of birth, photograph, and signature, such as a passport or driver's license. Your Immiva checklist names what to send for your reason.
Use that reason only if USCIS got the card back as undeliverable. Check your case status online first. If the card was mailed to your address and never returned, file as lost, stolen, or destroyed.
Your receipt notice does not replace a valid green card for most travel. USCIS suggests getting the new card before you leave. It will not mail one to a foreign address.
If you have a removal order or an open immigration court case, were abroad for a long time, or think you lost your status. If your answers point to one of these, we say so, and that is the point to talk to a lawyer.
Immiva's preparation fee is $99, paid after you see your completed forms. The USCIS fee is separate.
No. Immiva is software that prepares Form I-90 from your answers. It does not provide legal advice.
