How it works

Prepare your N-400 in four steps

Most people finish in one sitting. You can stop and come back, and nothing is lost.

  1. Check you qualify

Answer a few questions about your green card, your travel, and your marriage. Free, and no account needed.

  2. Answer the questions

Work through the N-400 in plain English. We save as you go and explain anything that is unclear.

  3. Read your report

See all 22 checks, what passed, what needs your attention, and how to fix it. Still free at this point.

  4. File it

Download your finished N-400 and your document list. File online through your USCIS account, or print it and mail it.

Real filers

Two problems we caught before USCIS saw them

Both would have filed and been denied if they had gone alone.

  • Five years of constant travel across eight countries, and I had no idea how to count it. Immiva ran the numbers and told me I was 11 days short of the 913-day threshold. I'd have filed, paid $760, and been denied. I waited six weeks and filed clean.
    David K.5-year green card path
  • My green card came through a first marriage that ended in divorce, and I'd been scared to naturalize for years. Immiva flagged that exact situation in the review and told me what I'd need to prove the marriage was genuine. I take my Oath next month.

Common questions

N-400 questions, answered

What people ask before they start.

Can I file Form N-400 online?

Yes. Most people file through a USCIS online account, and your finished N-400 works for that. If you would rather mail a paper packet, we give you print-ready pages and the right address.

Do I need a lawyer to apply for citizenship?

You should not have to judge that yourself. We ask about the things that complicate a citizenship application: arrests, long trips abroad, taxes, Selective Service, a marriage-based green card. We check every answer, and anything that needs attention shows up in your report before you file. If your answers show an open immigration court case or a removal order, we tell you, and that is the time to talk to a lawyer.

What do the 22 checks look at?

Your eligibility math, the allegiance and oath questions, the eight good moral character areas, your address and employment history, and whether every field on the form is filled correctly. The full list is above.

Can Immiva handle travel, divorce, or an arrest in my history?

Yes. The audit specifically looks at marriage-based green cards, borderline day counts, prior incidents you have to disclose, and Selective Service.

How do I count continuous residence and physical presence?

You do not have to. Enter your trips and we count the days, flag any absence long enough to break continuous residence, and give you the earliest date you can safely file. Try the residence calculator

What happens after I file my N-400?

USCIS sends a receipt, then a biometrics appointment, then an interview with the civics and English tests. If you are approved you take the Oath of Allegiance and you are a citizen.
