Adjustment of Status Package: Six Forms, One Questionnaire (2026)

Prepare your I-130 and I-485 concurrent filing, including the supplements and optional work and travel requests, from one set of answers.

An adjustment of status package can run to six USCIS forms. One guided questionnaire now prepares the ones your family needs, including the optional work permit and advance parole applications.

A couple prepares an adjustment of status package on a laptop, with six separate USCIS form documents laid out on the table

Building an adjustment of status package means answering questions about the same people over and over, on several forms. Your name, your addresses, the date you married: they keep coming up. Each form has its own purpose, but most of what it asks for belongs to the same family.

Immiva's concurrent filing package now puts that preparation in one questionnaire. It covers Form I-130, Form I-485, Form I-130A and Form I-864, with Form I-765 and Form I-131 as optional add-ons. An answer you give once goes into every form that needs it.

If you are still learning the basics, the I-130 family petition guide and I-485 adjustment of status guide explain the two main applications. This post is about preparing the connected forms together.

What your adjustment of status package can include

Six supported form types cover different parts of a family-based filing. Which ones apply depends on your relationship, your circumstances and what you choose to request.

Form

What it does

How it fits

I-130

Establishes the qualifying family relationship.

The family petition in this package. USCIS I-130

I-485

Requests permanent residence from inside the United States.

The adjustment application. USCIS I-485

I-130A

Provides additional information about the spouse beneficiary.

Required with a spouse's I-130 petition. USCIS spouse-petition requirements

I-864

Documents the sponsor's financial support commitment.

Required for most family-based immigrants, with exceptions. USCIS I-864

I-765

Requests employment authorization.

An optional work permit application for eligible applicants. USCIS I-765

I-131

Requests advance parole in this filing context.

An optional travel-document application for eligible applicants. USCIS I-131

Take an eligible spouse preparing both main forms. They may also need I-130A and I-864, and they might decide to request work authorization and advance parole on top. That is six form types. Another family may need fewer.

The I-130A guide explains the spouse supplement. The I-864 sponsor guide covers financial sponsorship in more detail.

Check whether concurrent filing fits your case

I-130 and I-485 concurrent filing means submitting the adjustment application before USCIS has approved the underlying family petition; the two go in together. This route is open to applicants physically present in the United States who meet the adjustment requirements and have a visa number available for filing. USCIS concurrent filing guidance

Sort this out before you start gathering answers. A relative living abroad generally goes through consular processing instead. And being in the United States, by itself, does not make you eligible to adjust status. How you entered and the other eligibility requirements still matter. USCIS adjustment guidance

The concurrent filing guide covers the eligibility rules. For this package, the first useful step is checking whether the petition and the adjustment application belong together in your case.

Enter shared details once

Think about what connects a spouse's green card application forms: the applicant's legal name, previous names, address history, marriage date and details about their spouse.

With separate blank forms, you copy the same information from one document to the next and try to remember which version of an answer you used where. A married name in one place and a previous name in another may reflect real history, but that history has to be recorded clearly.

One questionnaire gives you a shared starting point. Answers that belong on more than one form are reused. Form-specific questions still collect whatever each application needs on its own.

That is the practical benefit of preparing the package together. You explain the family history once and manage fewer repeated entries. You still need to check that your answers match your records, and the I-485 document checklist helps you gather the records you will compare them against.

Consistency does not mean making every answer identical. The sponsor and the applicant are different people, so a question about the sponsor's address may need a different answer from a question about the applicant's. The goal is the right information for the right person, reused wherever it belongs.

Names work the same way. A previous name and a current legal name can both belong in the record. Read what each question is asking rather than changing an accurate answer just so two fields look alike.

Review the connected forms before paying

Immiva checks the package before payment. The base package runs up to 60 checks, with six more when you add both the work permit and the travel document. The report flags anything that needs attention, including places where information does not line up across forms.

So your review has a clear shape: look at what was flagged, compare it with your records and correct your answers where needed. The I-485 common mistakes guide covers other problems to watch for during preparation.

The checks support your review. They do not guarantee USCIS approval and they are not a substitute for individualized legal advice.

Prepare the package in four steps

The preparation process gives the sponsor and the applicant one place to work through everything.

  1. Choose your package. Start with the family petition and adjustment application. Select the work permit or advance parole add-ons if you want to request them.
  2. Complete the questionnaire. Provide the sponsor's information, the applicant's history and the details specific to each selected form. Shared answers populate the related forms.
  3. Review the results. Read the pre-filing report and check the prepared information against your documents before paying.
  4. Download and prepare to file. Use the completed forms, document list and filing instructions to finish your submission.

One questionnaire prepares separate USCIS forms. You still need the signatures, the supporting evidence and the government fees. Preparing the forms online is not the same as filing them; nothing has gone to USCIS until you send it. USCIS I-485 filing information

Choose the add-ons you need

Immiva's base package costs $299. It includes I-130 and I-485 preparation, plus I-130A and I-864 when applicable. I-765 is an optional add-on at $69, and I-131 at $69. Current preparation prices are listed on the pricing page.

USCIS filing fees are separate.

Add the work and travel requests if you need them and qualify. Filing I-765 or I-131 asks for permission; it does not grant it. USCIS employment authorization, USCIS advance parole information

Frequently Asked Questions

No. I-130A applies to spouse petitions, and most family-based immigrants need I-864 unless an exception applies. I-765 and I-131 are optional requests. See the I-130A guide and financial sponsorship guide. USCIS I-130, USCIS I-864

No. It is the interface you prepare in. Your answers fill the separate official forms your case needs, including any work and travel requests you selected, and you review those forms before filing.

No. Submitting a request is not approval. You need authorization in hand before you work, and leaving the country can affect a pending adjustment application even with advance parole, which does not remove every travel risk. Read the work and travel guide before making plans. USCIS I-765, USCIS I-131

It includes a document list to work from. The records and evidence themselves come from you. The I-485 document checklist explains common supporting materials. USCIS I-485

No. This concurrent-filing package is for eligible applicants adjusting status inside the United States. A relative abroad generally goes through the consular route. The free eligibility check will point you to the right starting point. USCIS concurrent filing guidance
